Latest 2014 Ryder Cup Betting News

The betting had been pretty quiet in the run up to the 2014 Ryder Cup but players are jostling for those all important places on the European and American teams. It's been a tough time for US captain Tom Watson with Dustin Johnson ruling himself out of the rest of the season, whilst Tiger Woods will also be missing from Team USA due to injury.

Jamie Donaldson cemented his place in the European team when winning the Czech Masters last weekend whilst Stephen Gallacher just missed out on an automatic spot when falling a shot short in the Italian Open on Sunday.

Masters winner Bubba Watson finished top of qualification for the American team following the USPGA Championship and the other automatic selections are Jim Furyk, Rickie Fowler, Jimmy Walker, Phil Mickelson, Matt Kuchar, Jordan Spieth, Patrick Reed and Zach Johnson.

Hunter Mahan's win in The Barclays last weekend will surely put him at the front of the queue for a wildcard place in the USA team.

Paul McGinley and Tom Watson are set to name their three wildcard picks on Tuesday.
