Corey Pavin was announced as the American Ryder Cup Captain for the 2010 clash at Celtic Manor in Wales beginning 1st October. Pavin still plays on both the senior and regular PGA Tour and was a mean competitor in his day.
Corey Pavin achieved a World ranking high of number 5 in 1995 which was the same year when he won his only Major victory, the US Open. He has also had fourteen further USPGA tour victories, the last one being the US Bank Championship in 2006, which came after ten years since his last victory.
He has made the US Ryder Cup team three times in 1991, 1993 and 1995, winning the first two and losing the third in which he has a record of 8 wins and five losses, giving him a total of 8 points.
Corey Pavin's Wildcard Picks
Corey Pavin picked Tiger Woods, Stewart Cink, Zach Johnson and Rickie Fowler as his four wildcard selections following the Deutsche Bank Championship on Tuesday 7th September. Much had been made of whether Woods would get a pick but connections suggest it was never out of the question. Cink and Johnson have played Ryder Cup golf before but it will be a debut for the exhuberant rookie Rickie Fowler at Celtic Manor.
