Davis Love III

Davis Love III

Davis Love III was named the American Ryder Cup captain for 2012 back in January 2011 and he went on to oversee the dramatic 'Miracle of Medinah' where USA contrived to throw away a lead. After being replaced by Tom Watson for yet another defeat in 2014, Love is back in the hotseat as Team Captain for 2016.

Love III has been ranked as high as number three in the world and he was a consistent fixture in the top 10 in the world during the 1990's and 2000's. He is a major winner in his own right as he won the 1997 PGA Championship, while he won 19 other PGA Tour events, so he is a person that demands respect from his American Ryder Cup team.

He has made the US Ryder Cup team six times in 1993, 1995, 1997. 1999, 2002 and 2004, winning just the two (in 93 and 99). He was a formidable competitor, particularly in his early Ryder Cup appearances, and he gained an impressive 12.5 points in total during his Ryder Cup career as a player.
